Gone Fishing

A studio portrait of Malik Scott blending tactical fishing gear with urban fashion elements against a neutral tan backdrop.
I brought Malik Scott into the studio to turn a fishing trip into a fashion statement. Against a warm, tan background, Malik stands shirtless in a green tactical fishing vest and hat, holding a massive, dark lobster in one hand and a fishing rod in the other. The story here is about the "urban angler" someone who looks like they belong on a boat but has the style of the city. I kept the lighting even and clear so you can see the details of his tattoos, the texture of the lobster’s shell, and the many pockets on his gear. It’s a strange, bold look that works because Malik carries the props with total confidence, making a simple hobby look like a magazine cover.
